Of all the destinations available to the discerning traveler now, it bodes THE QUESTION,
‘WHY AFRICA FOR YOUR HOLIDAY?'

Africa has touched the imaginative and adventurous streak in thousands of people from every walk of life….and it still does so, even now with all the uncertainties and negative press and issues that emanate from this Dark Continent. So, let’s examine some of the ‘magnets’ of this attraction.

Africa has more of its’ own NATURAL WONDERS than any other continent of the world:

It is collectively the GREATEST RESEVOIR OF TERRESTRIAL BIODIVERSITY ON THE PLANET…..that means it has more animals and birds than any other continent!

The History The history of this great continent is bloody, wild, fascinating, brutal, beautiful and ever changing. It is considered by many academics as being the ORIGIN OF MAN, and we know that hominids have lived, evolved and developed here since the Dawn of Time itself. Their stone tools and bone remains have been found to assure us of this fact. Culturally, the diversity of peoples and therefore languages, and their ceremonies and dress is huge. Colour is an integral part of Africa whether it is the avifauna, insects, scenery or it’s people….

Safari…..a journey Generally, though it is the fascinating and charismatic herds of animals with the attendant predators, and their habitats that are the main attraction. This has drawn to it an equally fascinating and diverse group of individuals whose love of a way of life amongst the wild, the indigenous people and daily risks they live with that adds to the adventure! Most westerners have such acutely different lives that meeting these men and women who love the bush and all in it, makes an indelible impression on them too. Many remain friends for life after a great safari. Such is the effect of their safari.

The Politics Africa also has the worst track record politically….be it a hang-over from colonial times, or post-independent periods. The sixties were the threshold period, when change came to Africa and many countries fell into turmoil, which is still a problem for many today. Other countries stabilized quickly and have moved on and are stable examples for the rest of Africa today.

Personal Security…..in perspective. This is often foremost in travelers minds when booking African destinations. Travellers need to exercise their common sense in the course of ANY journey they undertake, as they would in their home towns. Every destination used by this company has, within its powers to do so, ensured that all it’s guests are safe from any untoward risk from injury from animals or human intrusion. A safari is a risky journey, but the risks are no more so than those apparent to people living in any city in the world. They are just risks that foreign travelers are not used to!

Thousands of people are killed and maimed daily in vehicle accidents, worldwide, yet that statistic fails to stop people owning several cars and driving them daily to work or play! A VERY tiny number of travelers are ever killed or injured by animals during a safari, and that is commonly through their own willful disobedience to instructions, and bad luck.

The Journey Most of the worlds major airlines fly to the major cities in Africa, providing easy access to every wildlife destination. Charter companies provide logistic support and access to the smaller, ‘out of the way’ camps and lodges.

The Romance A safari conjures up the excitement and romance of the early explorers journeys which were undertaken on foot with a trail of porters carrying a camp and provisions for the duration of the safari.

There are now such a variety of options, naturally from ultra-luxurious to basic camping in the wilds. Travellers can choose from a plethora of service-providers to suit their choices and budget.

Africa is fun, exciting, challenging and every day is an adventure!
