Who We Are.

Africa Inscribed is a small owner-run travel company, with a fine reputation as boutique operators. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa it is perfectly located for travel business in Africa. The two owners are directly involved in running the business, with a hand-picked team in the office and so all enquiries are assured of immediate and personal attention.

The company focuses on creating unique itineraries that satisfy our guests’ requests entirely. We like to hear exactly what travelers’ expectations are, and if they don’t have anything specific, then we will make educated suggestions for the itinerary. Then fine tune it, until they are totally happy with it all. (We don’t own any properties, so we are not funneling travelers through properties to suit ourselves!)

Our travel management integrity is intact, and has been since we started operating!

We strive to create EXPERIENCES that are flawless in execution and satisfy our guests expectations in every regard.

We send travelers to twelve countries in Africa, including Madagascar, and have excellent working relationships with travel partners in each of those countries. Our Private Guides will either lead these safaris or travelers can opt to go on their own!

Every day is an adventure!

Travel Specialist

Sandra Dacey

Born and raised in South Africa, my passion for travel ignited as a youngster on family adventures, in an overland camper, travelling locally, in Nambia, Europe and the UK. After school I ventured overseas to a Kibbutz and returned home at a time when the travel industry was starting to boom. I then did a diploma in Travel and Tourism and started my career as a reservation’s consultant specializing in Zimbabwean reservations which was then a thriving travel destination. Following that I joined Drifters an adventure Travel and Safari company where I met my husband who got me out of the office and into the forefront running a safari operation base and fly camp within the Okavango Delta, Botswana. After having children I joined Africa Inscribed as a travel coordinator. One of my many bucket-list experiences with Africa Inscribed was having the opportunity to view the magnificent mountain gorilla in the Virunga Mountains, Rwanda, a very special place!

Sharyn Ford

I started my career in tourism at the tender age of 17. Fresh out of school and raring to become independent, I was lucky enough to start my career as a receptionist in an Overland Safari company, based in Johannesburg. Soon after starting, I had the opportunity to become a tour consultant and at the age of 20, I was heading up the reservations team.

I then decided to try my hand at a luxury tour operator and again, started at the bottom of the ranks. After spending many years with this company, I finished my career with them as General Manager of Operations for their Southern Africa division.

Shannon Anderson

My passion for wildlife and the outdoors started from a very young age, while caravanning with my family in the Kruger National Park and many day trips to the Pilanesberg National Park. We would spend as much time as possible out and about experiencing the wildlife of South Africa.

Although I was born in Johannesburg, I have a strong Scottish heritage and at the age of 9, I followed in my aunts’ footsteps and began highland dancing. Dancing quickly became more than just a hobby and resulted in travelling to Scotland 4 times to compete across the country prior to the World Highland Dancing Championships held every year in Dunoon, Scotland. Aside from travelling overseas, dancing has also given me the opportunity to travel to unique parts of South Africa, inspiring the travel bug in me.

Reservations Manager

Bernadette Ehlers Venter

I started my career in Tourism in 1998 when I enrolled for a National Diploma in Hospitality Management. After completing three years of study, I worked in various resorts and hotels within South Africa. I moved back home to Gauteng in 2004 to take up my first position in tourism as a Junior Travel Consultant, consequently discovering my talent for creating wonderful client memories. I joined the Africa Inscribed team as Reservations Manager In February 2013.

I am passionate about the beauty of our African Continent and enjoy planning perfect ‘once in a lifetime’ experiences for our guests to enjoy Africa’s unique gems. I am fortunate to have travelled extensively throughout South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Rwanda & Namibia. The highlights for me (thus far) would most certainly be Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda, assisting with planning and managing a tour for the 42nd US President and a very humbling Rhino Notching conservation experience.

Travel Specialist

Warren Wright

Warren holds a very valuable position in the office as a member of the travel advisory team, as well as being one of our Private Guides. When he is not on safari, he is in the office!

Warren is responsible for handling travel enquiries, working with the rest of the team to create seamless itineraries for privately guided and locally hosted guests traveling with Africa Inscribed. A very capable and detail-orientated individual, he performs his role very well, using his own experiences at the numerous properties he has visited over the years and on the ground knowledge to enhance and maximise each itinerary, but always looks forward to being out with his guests on safari! His camera is always with him too!

Dylan has traveled to 74 countries around the world, and that includes 18 African countries! His passion for travel and particularly in Africa started his career as an ‘Overland guide’, taking foreign tourists up into East Africa from South Africa, cooking, hosting and being the ‘go-to’ for the entire trip. After turning down a senior management offer, he left to buy a boutique guest house in Cape Town.
