The Guides

Our Luxury Safari Guides.

Africa Inscribed Private Travel continues to expand operations and destinations, and so we have taken a cautious step to recruit some mature and very experienced guides who have been known to us for most of there careers to conduct escorted safaris for us. These are a selection of family men or seasoned bachelors who have guided safaris in Africa for decades now and these men we trust to care for our guests as we do when we are out in the field, whether here in Southern or ‘up there’ in East Africa.

Luxury Safari Guide

Warren Wright

Warren was born and raised in South Africa, and has been in the business now for nigh on 23 years. His love affair with Africa and a desire to explore, started his career as a field guide with an overland operation, where, as an expedition leader he hosted foreign travellers through some pretty tough terrain up and down sub-Saharan Africa! He has great inter-personal skills, and is one for keeping guests entertained with stories. An accomplished photographer as well, he acts as a photographic ‘assistant’ to his guests, helping them to improve their skills in that respect and creating a library of images and memories for his guests to take home with them.

One of his fortes is families on safari, where he is able to create a great rapport with children, open up their minds to not only nature but also to appreciate and admire the cultures and lifestyles of the local people, and co-ordinate daily activities with parents and lodge/camp management.

Luxury Safari Guide

Dave Carson

Dave is a well-known Zimbabwean Professional Guide who has been in the business for 20 odd years. He trained under a legendary ex-warden from national parks, and from the start understood that guiding required a commitment, lots of hard work and a tenacity of mind in tough conditions! He is a very successful guide, and has an envious record at finding game for his lucky guests! He served a four year apprenticeship, which stood him in good stead, and he is today a key motivator in the teaching fraternity for Zimbabwean guides!

Dave runs his own mobile camping operation, and has two lovely camps in Hwange National Park too. Needless to say, he is one of the finest guides in the country today, with a wealth of experience with dangerous game and situations in East and Southern Africa. Walking with all manner of wildlife is a specialty of Zimbabwean guides and Dave has embraced this completely.

Luxury Safari Guide

Gavin Reid

Gavin is a ‘son of the Cape’, being raised in the winelands there, not far from Vergelegen Estate! He is one of the finest Western Cape history guides and chefs too! So, he is able to ‘talk wines’ with the best, and as a chef/guide his close ties with many of the owners of different wine estates allow him to treat his guests to many unique and special experiences not available to travelers otherwise, so we count ourselves very lucky to have him as part of our team at Africa Inscribed!

He left school and qualified as a chef through one of the key hospitality schools in the Cape. He then traveled around the US and Europe for a few years gaining experience with different cultures and in various kitchens, which he brought home. One of his most obvious fortes is story-telling and he is able to keep guests entertained all day!

Luxury Safari Guide

Jurgen Vogt

Jurgen began his career at Londolozi Game Reserve in 1993, when that famous reserve was the only opportunity for training for young rangers. This was a huge advantage and Jurgen was able to work with several now-famous guides and wildlife photographers like Lex Hes who was a significant in influencing his choice of permanent career.

Based on his intimate knowledge and enduring passion for wildlife, Jurgen has evolved into a sought-after Private Guide with his excellent bush and guiding skills, his interpersonal skills and sense of humour which keeps those tough days from being negative! He has some great stories as well!

Jurgen’s images have found their way into several quality magazines, such as Africa Geographic, Out There, and his video footage has been featured on Animal Planet, Nat Geo Wild and can be seen on You Tube as well.
